Where There is a Will, There is a Way
I've realised that yesterday's post probably seemed a little pessimistic, but hey, I'm human and I have my own failings, too... But to make up for it, today's post is about an observation I made earlier this year. It is a lesson taught to me by a very elderly woman. She is my hubby's grandma. This was what I learned:
After spending ten days keeping an eye on my hubby's grandma, I have witnessed the living essence of that age old proverb: "Where there is a will, there is a way."
Granny sports a full set of dentures and if you know anything about wearing full dentures, you'll be aware that the joys of eating we all take for granted are not so easily enjoyed by full denture wearers. Full dentures are not firmly attached to your gums the way your teeth are, so chewing with them is another experience altogether.
Granny often complains that she can't eat veggies or chicken because it's "too hard" for her dentures so we often have to find her "softer" alternatives that she can eat. What I have noticed is that Granny LOVES chocolates. She also loves chocolates with nuts. She loves chocolates with nuts so much so that I spied her chomping on chocolate-coated nuts straight out of the refrigerator when she thought no one was looking.
So much for her dentures being a restriction to the kinds of food she can eat, for Granny has just shown me that when the mind is willing, the body will obey...
